Inclusive education is allowing all students to learn side by side in the classroom. This means that all students are in the same classroom learning with one another. Not all students will be at the same level so the most important thing when incorporating inclusiveness into the classrooms is adaptations. Adaptations can be as simple as writing instructions on the board and then saying the instructions orally so the students who forget or missed the oral instructions can follow along. Allowing choice is another great way for adaptations. In the grade 6/7 class students did a novel study using human rights themed novels. Students were given a choice of 5 to 6 novels that varied in length and difficulty, there were also a choice to choose a graphic novel, and one students used an audio book. Students choose their book according to their reading style and it led to engagement for all students and being able to understand the content of the novel as the book they were reading were at their level.
