One Word for 2021

My one word for 2021 is adaptability. The year 2020 has shown me that you never know what to expect and sometimes our plans don’t always go accordingly. I choose adaptability has my one word for 2021 as my goal for the year is to adapt to whatever circumstances come my way in order to strive for my goals as well as to help others around me. I will remind myself that I am always learning and to be flexible and adaptable with my learning. Adaptability does not mean that I will not reach my goals, it means that I may need to focus on a different approach and pathway to reach my goals.

While I am in my final summative practicum at the University of Northern British Columbia Education P9rogram my focus will be on adapting my lessons and teaching styles to the needs of the students and their best learning styles. I will focus on adapting my unit plans and lesson plans around the guidance of my coaching teacher and practicum evaluator. I will keep an open and flexible mind when discussing pedagogy with educators and reflect on what I can do differently and how I can adapt my teaching style to be the most effective for my students.

The word adaptability will remind me over the year, 2021, that things don’t always go according to plan, no matter how much I plan and prep. I must adapt to the circumstances that I can not change and make the best out of things. I will remind myself that sometimes these adaptations may turn out even better and have beautiful outcomes. I am excited to see what is in store me in the year 2021. I think 2021 is going to be a great year.
